Wildebeest migration? Pah!

Seren Geti National Park, Tanzania

As the sun went down we were lucky enough to catch a bit of the wildebeest migration.

Every bit as frightening as they are made out to be.

We entered the Seren Geti at the the north-west corner. Passes into the park last for 24hours so we had a day and a night to get from this entrance to our exit at the far south-east of the park.

Market Town, Tanzania

Clare and I walked down the road through the village to the lakeside. On the shore where piles and piles of tiny dried fish, like whitebait, some of them almost 2m high (the piles not the fish). The smell was very... interesting.

On Saturday we made the journey from Lake Victoria to the Seren Geti. We were to be in the Seren Geti and then the Ngoragora Crater for 3 days so we stopped in a market in ??? to stock up.

TANZANIA Through Rosey's Tinted Spectacles

After crossing the border into Tanzania we spent one night on the shores of Lake Victoria before heading into the Seren Geti. We had 24 hours in the Seren Geti, enough time to see a lioness and her wilderbeest kill, wilderbeest migration, a spectacular sunrise, and a parade of elephants. The following 24 hours were spent in the Ngoragora crater. We left the mountains and journeyed south towards Arusha where we visited a Masi village before stopping off in Arusha itself. Next stop was Marangu at the base of Killimanjaro.

AFRICA Through Rosey's Tinted Spectacles

In January 2006 my sister, Clare (of Three Beautiful Things fame), and I went on an intrepid adventure to Africa passing through Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. The following are our pictures.
(On our return, I carried on taking pictures and posting them here, so what started off as a record of our adventure has become my permenent blog.)
