Long Churn Caves. I went on a first aid course out in the Dales. One of the guys running it was a caver and very kindly offered to take us out one evening. And no, it wasn't to try and get some 'real casualities' for us to practice on (although I did wonder!). N.B. Caving is definitely not pot-holing and we didn't go there on motorbikes.
The field campaign for the Arran project started in October with the construction of one of three 30m masts. The masts are going up on a ridge on the north-east of the island over-looking the sea. Each mast will be bedecked with instruments to measure various properties of the air-flow as it interacts with the ridge and the trees. This is Andy, Cathryn and Jenn putting the finishing touches onto mast number one.
From left to right, back to front, Kevin, Jenn, Andy, Cathryn, me and Stephen- this is the Arran field campaign team photo! (Note the half eaten pie to the right- what was to become the campaign logo).
